All Packed and Ready

This Morning we check into the hospital for induction. I am officially all packed and ready to go. There are many packing lists on Pinterest, but I thought I would share (if you ever wanted to know) what I've packed.

I try to carry just two bags: Labor & Delivery and Aftermath. I pack two so one stays in the car until I needed and the other gets checked in with me.

In my Labor & Delivery Bag I Pack:

Socks
My Nook
My ipod
My point and shot camera with extra batteries
My Cannon (not shown because it was being used)
Chargers for everything
Some snacks for JAG
Chapstick
my makeup bag which will be thrown in at the last minute
Thank you gifts for the nurses

Thank you gifts are new with this pregnancy (Thank you Pinterest)
They were quick to whip together and included
A Dove Candy Bar
Chapstick
Altoids
Hand Sanitizer
I made four, hopefully that will be enough.

Then there is my Aftermath bag which includes things for me and Morgan:

Two Gowns and a Robe from Miss Elaine.
I love Miss Elaine Gowns they are soft and very motherly.
I hate having people visit when I am boobalious (it's a word and it happens after you have a baby)

More Socks
House Shoes
Extra Bra
Boy Short Underwear to hold up the thunderpads. I really don't want to wear mesh panties.
Thunderpads (huge overnight size pads)
Pose pads
Nursing Pads to help with leaking

Toiletries:
Shampoo & Conditioner
Dry Shampoo because last year I didn't get to shower for a bit.
Tooth brush & toothpaste
Face wash and moisturizer
rubberbands
hairbrush
hair straightener
hemroid spray (don't you just love delivery)

For Morgan:
a going home outfit
3 burb rags
two onesies
three snap diapers shirts
two gowns
two caps
socks
afghan

That's about it and if you are wondering because of the meds I am on now and after pregnancy, I will not be breastfeeding thus I am taking gowns instead of PJs.

Wish us luck! I'll try to post at least a picture when I can! Keep an eye out on my side bar for Instagram pictures.

Canton Finds!

Last Saturday I had my last hoorah with my girlfriends and we took a trip to First Monday Trade Days in Canton.

I was on a mission for two things: an Easter basket and gowns for Morgan.

After about 3 hours I rented one of those electric scooter and we wound up staying all day because the pregnant girl was having fun.

Here are my finds

a hat because it was freezing $5 and an "M" wood block made from old hardwood floors $3.50. I got Bekah one last year.

Morgan's Easter Basket $15.

It matches Shelby and Bekah's from last year.

Little Deer Planter $7

Vintage Pillow Cases for $3 each

I love the details

A vintage chenille bedspread that is the perfect size for a toddler bed $10

Calm, At Least for Now

February 26th
You have Pruritic Urticarial Papules (PUPPS)

February 28th
You don't have PUPPS, but you also don't have ICP (Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy)

March 5th
You have Gestational Diabetes

March 6th
You don't have Gestational Diabetes, you definitely have Intrahaepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy
You need to be on meds STAT and have this baby next week.

March 7th
Yep, you still have Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy

This has been my very frustrating life lately. The good news is I am having a baby next week! The frustrating news is I still can't tell you what day that will take place. I am sitting by my phone waiting. Then when I find out I won't know if it's a long induction (with cytotek) or a short induction (with pitocin). Feel free to Google those and the other terms mentioned above...terms I never though I would have to learn.

Surprisingly, I am calm.

It's my third baby, so I am becoming pretty experienced in all this baby removal junk.

And to be honest I am just done...ready.

I am ready to meet this girl - to start a new chapter.

It makes me a bit reminiscent of my other babies.

Shelby 2001
Blurry...sorry
Bekah 2011

I don't want to get lost in the "oh I've done this before" I want to cherish every moment of Morgan's birth just as I did with my other precious girls. This time I am just so relived for it to be over (the pregnancy). It's hard to explain so that you will understand - or at least I think it is - you may get it.

I have to admit that on Wednesday I did have a small "oh my goodness what have we done - we are really having a 3rd child" moment. I am still not packed. I think I've been using that as a protection of my heart for the past month. Now as Morgan kicks like crazy inside of me I feel peace and calm - this is going to happen and it will be a great thing.

I am sure sometime next week I will have my "oh wait you actually want me to take her home" freak out, but it will all be ok...I can handle three girls - I've got this!

I'm OK

I went to the specialist this morning and I didn't get the exact news I wanted, but I am ok.

The perfect appointment would go as follows.

I would walk in, have a sono and then I would be told to go check myself in the hospital to have this baby.

Yep, I was dreaming. Which I'm surprised that I'm not sleep walking after the crappy night I had. I told my mom this morning, "I could pull over get out the car and sleep peacefully on the sidewalk." I am that tired. Of course the sleep would be interrupted after about an hour because then I would start itching.

Anyway, back to the non-dreaming doctors appointment. Let me just say if you need a really good OB specialist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area let me know - I am in doctor love with the one I found.

He actual did a sonogram of my gallbladder. Duh! Why hadn't that been done before? Did you know that your gallbladder is all the way up under your boob? Well, I didn't...I thought is was down  lower, but I never took anatomy so many things about my body shock me.

He noticed I have a large gall stone and some little ones too. This could be a part of the issue, but really I just have to wait till I have issues before that organ can be removed - which is fine with me.

He agreed that I have all the signs of ICP, but he cannot give me a true diagnoses since my blood work is till peachy keen. Well poo!

Next he looked at my amniotic fluid. He said I was borderline polyhdramnios (that is what they call having a large amount of fluid). Since I have so much fluid Morgan is free to move around as much as she wants. She went from in position head all the way to my cervix on Tuesday to fully breech today. He still wants me to have weekly sonograms, but he didn't seem too extremely concerned.

What made him my new dream doctor is I could straight out ask him about the dreaded term "still born" and he actually answered me. I didn't get an "everything will fine" response. He said even if I was 100% healthy he couldn't rule out still born completely, but since I have three things against me (age, ICP symptoms and high amniotic fluid) the sooner we can get Morgan out the better. I was relived to hear that he and I are on the same page. He recommends delivery around 38 weeks. He even said if my symptoms were too much to handle that I could ask for induction sooner, but I would have to strongly talk my OB into that...it will be a fight.
Profile Pic from today. Can't wait to meet her!

Miss Morgan is a BIG baby already. Today I am 35 weeks and 2 days along, but baby girl is measuring well over 38 weeks. That makes me so happy! Seriously, I'm not concerned about labor at all. I would prefer to have a big chunky baby.

Let's see what else am I missing...nothing really. Shelby of course is right on track with the way I thought she'd act with my mom in town...urgh!

I made banana bread yesterday and it took me back to the summer I lived with my Meme. Meh. I should make it more often, but I always forget how much of each ingredient to use. I normally would call Meme and ask "now how much sugar?" "is it baking powder or soda?". I wrote the recipe down this time and taped it inside a cabinet, so I have no excuse for throwing out old bananas.

My great internal debate is do I brave the cold for one last outing with my girlfriends to First Monday Trade Days in Canton? I really want to go, but I am soooo pregnant and it's going to be cold, but I REALLY want to go! JAG is all for it...my mom disagrees...maybe I'll asked Shelby for a tie breaker.

Frustrated and Lost

I know - two posts in one day, but to be honest I wrote this morning's post yesterday. I knew it would be too hard to write the post on the actual anniversary of James' passing.

Today I am so blah. I am not sure what it is. Could be the date or could be the pure frustration I am having with my body and my doctor - not with Morgan, she's perfect.

Yesterday I found out that all my blood work came back fine again and I should be happy and relived  but I am still stuck in this body that is killing me (a bit over dramatic I know). I am tired and I am tired of itching.

And to be honest I am scared. I've read too much and done too much research at this point. I just want it over.

My doctor now believes that I have pruritic urticarial papules (PUPPS). This is frustrating because one of the main signs of PUPPS is a rash and itching that starts on your abdomen - which I have not had either. He stopped any further blood work to check my Bile Acid and Liver Function and he has started me on steroids. (Steroids for that is supposed to help with PUPPS, not steroid injections for Morgan's lungs).

He also has no concern that my amniotic fluid is up to 35 cm (normal I am told is 7 to 27 cm).

I don't know how I feel. Well, yes I do. I feel like I don't want to be treated like I am making this up or that I am impatient and just want this pregnancy over with. I am concerned!

In dealing with ICP and a large amount of amniotic fluid the statement "still born" pops up again and again for pregnancies that go full term. In both cases they strongly suggest early delivery which my doctor will not discuss. Today when asked about my fluid and going full term he said "your body may not let you" and that was the end of his discussion. He also didn't schedule me for another sonogram even though the sonogram tech's concern seems to increase weekly. I know it's not her place to diagnose, but I have seen her once a week for the past month and I can tell there is something going on.

I do have an appointment on Thursday morning with a specialist and I hope to ask questions and get real answers. I know the risks, now I want someone to say that they know them too so we can lay out a plan for the next few weeks.

All of this has led me to a lost feeling. I struggle with possibility of someone looking from the outside and saying that I am not grateful for what I have. I have close friends who are struggling to have a child or who have lost pregnancies. I know that they would trade places with me in a heart beat. Urgh.  I hope I am making sense. I want this pregnancy so much and I want a healthy baby girl - I think that is the key.

I want a healthy baby and I feel (you know those mother's feelings) that I need to deliver Morgan in the next few weeks instead of waiting another 4 weeks. I would rather deliver her healthy at 37 weeks then take the chance that something will happen holding out to 39 weeks. I know it's two weeks, but Morgan's life could change in the next five minutes (couldn't everyone's). See what I am struggling with here?

My other struggle is how to you fight against a doctor who has a caboodle (is that a number or a make-up case?) of years of experience, was the top OB at the local hospital for years and has delivered two other healthy girls for you.

I keep hearing "Trust in the Lord" over and over, but I am struggling - also why I am feeling lost. I have not official let this go to him. I know I have to and when I do things will be fine. It reminds me of a story in one of Lysa Terkeurst's books (this won't be an exact quote, at least not today, because I don't have it in front of me). There was a couple who had a daughter with serious complications (I cannot remember what). The mother struggled to let it go to God mainly because she felt if she didn't fight then God would think she didn't want that baby. Oh, I am about to cry...that's it - that sums up my feelings. I am afraid if I don't fight tooth and nail for her myself instead of giving it to him that he might decide I'm not ready for her yet. URGH! Doesn't that sound just stupid? But that's what I am dealing with...I know better - I do.

Have you Tried Benadryl?

“I thought he was prescribing me something new.”
“No, this is what you are on; it’s just the non-generic version. Do you want to see if it will help?”
“Seriously doubt it will since the generic version offers zero relief.”
“Have you tried Benadryl?”

That’s when I lost it.
“Yes, I’ve tried EVERYTHING! I will just talk to him next week!”

How dare she!?! Does she not realize that what I am going through, what I’ve been through? Does my doctor not even know the medicine that he has already prescribe to me? Is he not taking this seriously?

Those were my thoughts as I stood in my kitchen in disbelief rubbing one foot against the other trying my best to avoid the spot where I had already scratched the top layer of skin off of my foot. Of all the people in the world you would think my doctor’s nurse would understand the condition I was dealing with!

About four weeks previously while JAG was traveling I was woken from a sound sleep to the pain and itching of what felt like fire ants in my bed. They were attacking my feet starting in my ankles and quickly moving to the soles of my feet. I quickly sat up (as quickly as you can when you are 8 month pregnant) and pulled the sheets back to find nothing but my two feet that felt like they were on fire. I reached down and itched them like crazy, but it gave me no relief. I checked for bites and found none along with no rash of any type.

I got up and grabbed a tube of Benadryl from the mast bathroom. I was hoping that a nice large lathering would stop the itching. It brought zero relief. I contemplated a knife to just cut my feet off, but then had a brilliant idea of using ice. My thought process didn’t happen as quickly as I am writing it, but the relief brought on by sticking plastic baggies of ice in my socks did. I was able to go to sleep. I woke up a few hours later with a large wet spot from you leaking bags of ice and the itching returned. I thought to myself well if this is the only pregnancy side effect I have then it’s not too bad. It’s still been an awesome pregnancy; I can deal with a bit of itching. I am sure it will over soon.

After two days, little sleep and many oral Benadryl taken in vain I decided to Google “itching feet pregnancy.” Yes, I know I know you shouldn’t Google any type of medical symptoms and you definitely should avoid WebMD when you are pregnant (especially 35 and pregnant), but I was desperate for ideas on what could make this itching go away.

The first entry that pulled up was describing a condition called Cholestasis of pregnancy. I read a bit about how toxic were being released through my feet and thought yay, that’s probably not what I have. I put it in the back of my mind and just applied more Benadryll. I did send it to JAG though with a want do you think attached. His response was a typical, “I am sure you are fine.” When he got in from out of town he saw first hand just how bad it was. The first night that he had to deal with it he tried everything to help. I rubbed cream of my feet, helped me prop them up and ran to get ice packs. He sat next to my and hugged me as I cried in frustration.

On the eighth day of less than two hours of sleep a night I broke down and called the doctor. I was squeezed in to see the Physicain Assistant and told her my story.
“I itch. It sounds crazy, but it my feet mainly at night. I want to use an knife to scrape my skin off. It’s horrible and I don’t sleep.”
I looked a JAG who I drug along to vouch for me, “he can tell you that I am not crazy. I read that it could be my gallbladder.”
“Well, you would be itching all over it was your gallbladder, but I will order labs and call in a prescription that will stop the itching.”

I swear it wasn’t  me being psychosomatic, but that night my arms and legs started itching. I was miserable. After two days I called the doctor’s office and talked with the nurse. She said, “It’s just your hormones.” I explained I thought it was ICP, Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy. To which she responded, “oh sweetie you need to stay off of the internet. There are things on there that are just meant to scare you.”

I am not sure if you feel the same way I do, but as I woman I know my body and I know when something is wrong and in this case something was wrong. I searched and search to find nothing else that matched my symptoms. One afternoon after getting zero response from my doctor about my condition getting worse I found myself on Facebook of all places in a group called ICP Care/Itchy Moms. I post my symptoms and asked if they thought it was ICP. I quickly received multiple responses saying I was right on target. So, I headed over to the ICP Cares website and quickly found out just how serious this is for both Morgan and me.

At that point I stepped up my game. It is common for doctors to not be familiar with ICP since it is pretty rare. I believe it is like a one in one thousand people thing, so it became my job to educate my very experienced OB. I printed and read study after study. I prepared a list of my symptoms and what in-home treatment I had tried. I also typed up a list of demands that included the tests I wanted and the steps we would take if it was indeed ICP. I went into my doctors appointment prepared to fight for my rights, but I found I didn’t need to. He sort of read through what I had and said, “Ok we will run more blood and get you a sonogram.” He agreed that it was probably ICP even though my blood work a week prior said everything was fine. My sonogram showed a large amount of amniotic fluid which brings in another slew of complications that of course I googled.

I added new words to my vocabulary like Bile Acid Screen, Liver Function Test, AST and ALT. Possible outcomes like still born and time in NICU become daily thoughts. I asked for prayers from a few people, not wanted to go public until I was fully diagnosed.

This brings me to day, almost four weeks later with zero resolution to my condition. I have had two regular healthy blood panels, but I still only sleep about two to four hours a night. My amniotic fluid is increase by the week, but my doctor thinks it’s not a big deal. Actually, as of this week I take that he thinks the entire thing is no big deal which scares the daylights out of me. ICP if untreated could be fatal from my child, not to mention what I could go through. I find myself sitting here this morning fighting with my doctor to see a specialist for a second opinion. The only possibility on the table is ICP since we have yet to find anything else it could be.

I am frustrated, exhausted and depressed beyond belief. It’s getting increasingly harder to get through each night not to mention I now itch through most of the day and naps only come in hour spans before I start have unmanageable itching.

So, I lose my cool when I nurse asks if I have tried Benadryl. If she only knew what I am living with these days.

I need prayers. I need to sleep. I need peace. I need to have this resolved. I need to remind myself daily of these verses.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you backfrom captivity.[a] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Matthew 6:34

New International Version (NIV)
34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
And of course my favorite of all time.

Proverbs 3:5-6

New International Version (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.[a]

Please keep Morgan and me in your prayers. Also, say a little prayer for JAG – he is such a trooper, but is so frustrated that he can’t fix me (he’s a fixer).

I’ll keep you updated.

Pregnancy at 35 and Anxiety

Today I spent the morning checking out this cute kid on the big screen. She is doing good and weighing about 1.5 pounds! She’s a mover and a shaker already so I am looking forward to a lovely few years with two crazy toddlers.

Since I recently turned 35 I’ve moved from regular pregnancy to “high risk” thus the reason I spent the morning with a genetic counselor. This was not of my own doing – it was something my doctor strongly suggested.

Now, as many may know I struggle with anxiety. We are talking crazy palm sweating; don’t want to leave my house anxiety some days. It is normally at its worst during pregnancy. I pray a lot and do my best to stay out of situations that would cause my anxiety to flair up. I have Matt drive places that I am uncomfortable; he is always a huge help to relieve my stress. It’s difficult for me I have to admit.

On days like to today I would be freaking out dwelling on my chances of having a daughter with some sort of genetic issue, but as I sat in the office and listened to the genetic counselor read off all my chances for Morgan to have things I couldn’t even pronounce I was filled with this peace. I had this attitude of “bring it on!” I was not scared one bit. If God were to give us a child with any type of genetic issues then we would deal with those circumstances. And as many of you know, if we were given a child with Down Syndrome (my chances are 1 in 1,400) we would feel just as blessed by God as we have been with our other two daughters. I’ve spent many hours in conversations with my friends stating how I feel like I am meant to adopt or work with children with Down Syndrome.  I love this feeling of peace – the feeling that God has our back and everything happens for a reason and a purpose in life.

As I sit here now knowing that as of today Morgan is perfect and I am truly blessed I am not at all worried about the fact that we will deliver her early – not sure how early just yet, but one of the complications of my “age” is that I have a higher risk of a still born pregnancy, so I will not carry Morgan full term. I have no anxiety in this at all – it’s that peace I was talking about. I’ve given this pregnancy to God. I know he has a plan for my life and of Morgan’s; I will walk whatever path he lays before us.

I still laugh at the fact that in one day I could change from "perfectly fine pregnancy" to "high risk pregnancy" without having any physical changes what so ever. I think there is a slight over reaction there, but they are the doctors not me.

Bekah’s Birth Story

I thought it would be timely to recap Bekah’s birth today on her first birthday – I am still in denial…my baby cannot be one!!! Don’t tell me have another one in the oven because that doesn’t help…this is my baby girl we are talking about.

Compared to Shelby’s birth (which you can read about here), Bekah’s birth was a dream. First off, I had JAG with me the entire time. Let me tell you ladies I’ve done it both ways (married and unmarried) and I prefer married with my husband there coaching me on – not that my mom did a terrible job with Shelby’s birth – you get it, right?

While I was driving into work this morning I had to laugh. I remembered how before I became pregnant with Bekah I said I would have my next child naturally at home. HA! Then once I was pregnant I said I would not induce the labor with this one. I would be patient and wait. Double HA!

After begging and a bit of arguing with Dr. Sak (yeap the same dr that delivered Shelby ten years earlier) he agreed to induce me at 39 weeks. I was trying to be induced at like 36 weeks…I think I started put a bug in his ear at like 32 weeks. I was so over being huge and pregnant during the heat of September.

So, it was set on the calendar – October 4th Induction Day!

My mom and dad came into town and JAG’s mom was here for a conference, so it was perfect timing. I barely slept the night before, but got up super early and headed to the hospital. I was relieved that this time was for real, we would check in and get this over with. I had a walk of shame a few weeks earlier that left me so embarrassed (if you've ever thought you were in labor, but weren't and had to walk out for the hospital still pregnant, you get it). Still JAG left my bag in the car just incase they changed their mind and wanted to send us home.

Check-in was easy and before I knew it I was snug in bed with an IV. I was relieved that I went the just pitocin route this time since I was already dilated 3 cms. The route I took with Shelby was horrible – the worst! Pitocin works quickly before you knew it those contractions were coming and so was Dr. Sak to break my water. I have to say I am so glad I was the only in the room at that time – JAG would have passed flat out. I don’t remember it being so dang painful. I am sure the person in the next room could hear me scream. Dr. Sak kept saying “just calm down.” My response, “Well just get away from me!” Proud mom moment there. After he left I told the nurse “he isn’t allowed to touch me again until I have drugs.”

I also made sure the nurses new that Dr. Sak had a tendency to over book (like they didn’t know) and I wanted to make sure he was on the floor when things were ready to go. I refused to be in the middle of pushing just to have a nurse say “honey you’ll have to stop a minute Dr. Sak is finishing up with someone else.” The nurse assured me I was his only patient for the day – sigh of relief.

The day passed with text messages and facebook posts. My mom came, JAG’s mom was there and of course JAG. JAG quickly learned to not touch me and not talk too much, but don’t play games on his phone. He did good and barely got in trouble.

I would say by Noon things were really rocking and rolling. The nurse offered an epidural and I jumped on it – I am just not cut out for natural child birth. After the epidural things really progressed, but they realized that Dr. Sak had not actually broke my water after all, so he had to come do it again. URGH!

Thank goodness there was a Texas Rangers playoff game on TV and this made time fly. I told JAG’s mom I wanted her to stay in the room. This was my second birth and I was over modesty. After awhile I wasn’t in pain, but had pressure. Dr. Sak breezed in, took a peak and said “she’s ready to go.” It wasn’t even 3 pm. I had a moment of “wait, I’m not ready. I thought this would take 18 hours like the last time!”

If you’ve had a child you know that the next few minutes are a blur of machines and transformer style beds then stirrups, pushing and a baby cry. That was it for me. It was an easy maybe four push birth and she was here! I bawled! I am about to start now. There she was! And she was perfect! Just between you and me I just knew I would have karma because of saying un-nice things about other babies that my baby wouldn’t be cute at all. I was wrong – she was so perfect perfect perfect.

When I was pregnant I wrote that I didn’t know how I would love another child as much as Shelby, but it’s true your heart grows. I was blessed that day! As soon as she was born I said “that was so easy…I could do that again.”

The night after she was born I couldn’t sleep, I just sat there and stared at her. I was so anxious the entire pregnancy for nothing – she was perfect, she still is.

I May Dislike Mornings, but I am Still Blessed

Conversation in the car last night:

Me: I need to write
JAG: yes you do. What do you need to write about? Pregnancy?
Me: What about it? How I am tired? How I hate your alarm that you hit four times in the morning. How I woke up this morning with raging hormones thinking “I hate me life.”

Yeap, I thought it most of Monday morning, but it’s not true. I don’t “hate” my life. I just fully despise Monday mornings.  Also, even though I still have six months to go, I cannot stand pregnancy hormones.

I am mean…mean…mean. I told JAG this morning after he hit is alarm for the second time, “I need to roll on my right side, but I don’t want you facing me so roll over.” Poor guy. I get so angry in the mornings. A lot of it has to do with the fact that he can get out of bed walk across the room hit snooze, come back to bed and being fully asleep snoring within two seconds. By the time I feel myself falling asleep his dang alarm goes off again! I have stop myself from saying “Just get your lazy self out of bed already and don’t you dare roll over here and hug me.” I also can’t stand being touched right now…it’s like that for the entire pregnancy normally. Actually, I think the meanness lasts the entire pregnancy too. Poor JAG.

If you think I’m moody you should meet Shelby these days. Oh man she is embracing 11 with a full load of pre-teen hormones. Last night I watched the end of her cheer practice and was a little disappointed. After three years (and a chunk of her momma’s money) she was still doing cheers with sloppy arms. It kills me when she knows how to do something correctly, but refuses. I didn’t go all cheer mom on her, but when we go in the car I said “your coach said you are doing great and she is not concerned about you miss two practices next week, but girl your arms are sloppy.” She said she knew and it was because “you were there. Next time you can come, but just don’t look at me.” Really?

Then this morning in the car on the way to middle school Shelby said “I can’t stand school.” Yikes, we are only three weeks in. I started questioning her as to why. Is she being bullied? Are her classes too tough? No to the bullying – thank goodness. Her response was “I just hate it. I hate every period from first to eighth.” Oh how I would love to fix this for her by pulling her out and homeschooling, but I really don’t think she would like that too much either. When we get in these conversations I am at a loss. I loved school until late junior high and that was due to bullies in a new school. I loved to learn when I was Shelby’s age so it’s hard for me to understand why she is facing this now.

Usually, I face this “I don’t like school” in the spring, not three weeks into the school year. I am just going to continue to talk to her about the situation and maybe I can get to the root of the problem.

Again, I wish I had some wise motherly words of wisdom on how to get over pregnancy hormones and deal with an 11 year olds’ dislike of the sixth grade. I guess I’ll put one foot in front of the other and continue with my day.

I will listen to Shelby, I will breathe more, pray more and try to be nicer to my poor husband. Yes, mother, I will try to be nicer to poor JAG…you know this hormone thing is 50% his fault. I guess I am blessed that he finds my snarky attitude cute and humorous…at least I think he does.

I don’t hate my life…I just dislike mornings and anytime that I’m not sleeping. God has blessed me beyond measure and I am thankful for every ounce of attitude I get from my daughter and every ounce of sickness I feel due to this new baby.

Moody

This picture has nothing to do with the blog, but look at those eye lashes.

Well it looks my pregnancy symptoms are kicking in and the first one to rear its ugly head is Miss Moody (or Mrs. Moody). Urgh, my mouth filter is slowly disappearing and which leads me to not be a very nice person to be around. Not only to I not think before I speak I’m tired and feel sick and I’m bloat and have a funky taste in my mouth all the time. Really? Can you blame me for not being cheery all day long?

I love my daughters and I am thrilled (scared a bit, but thrilled) about this pregnancy, but I CANNOT STAND being pregnant. Just a few months ago I told a friend, “I want to have a baby, but I don’t want to be pregnant or go through labor or breast feed.” She suggested that adoption may be a good option for me – well…we all know how that turned out.

Again, I am excited to have another baby – hopefully another girl (heehee), but I have to tell you that I am slightly apprehensive about having two children so close together. I know it can be done. MammaB had JAG and his younger brother 18 months apart just like Bekah and Baby #3 will be. All of it is a lot to take in and I am still in shock a bit. Without getting too TMI on you I will say JAG and I knew what we were doing, but neither of us really thought we would get pregnant again so quickly. In all honestly I would say it was the middle of June that we decided to leave it all up to God. Well, I guess God had plans for us, huh?

My plans for this pregnancy include not gaining a ton. I am still about seven pounds about where I was when I got pregnant with Bekah, so I am hoping that maybe I can go through this and not gain any weight. I’ll give you a minute to stop laughing. I know that that may not be realistic, but my hope it to be more active during this pregnancy and not use my condition as an excuse to get lazy.

Since Bekah turned 10 months yesterday, I’m slightly freaking out at how fast seven and half months will pass. I have so many things to do to get us ready to squeeze another little human in our already full house. All the while spending extra special time with Shelby to make sure she still gets her part.

Shelby is on a three week trip with my parents. This week they are on the beach where I grew up. The girl has had a busy Summer. She’s been to Missouri, San Antonio, Galveston and is now on South Padre Island. She was ecstatic about being a big sister again. She is hoping for a brother and wants to have the final say in the name selection of this baby. She has been asking me for months when we are going to have another baby – so she was prepared.

I hope Bekah will feel the same way about our new addition when he or she gets here in the Spring. I really hope Bekah decides to sleep through the night before then – we are up most night between 3 and 4 am, sometimes 5 am. That could account for a bit of my moodiness as well.

Losing It – My Hair

The view I have while working.
The big tree in the backyard lost its final leaf of the year – it’s depressing.

Want to know what else is depressing? Hair loss. I have heard that it is normal to lose your hair after giving birth, but I do not remember losing this much with Shelby. I think this has something to do with my PCOS as well – read about it here.

I just keep hearing Male Patterned Baldness in my head (one of the symptoms of PCOS). I think I feel worse it now that I have seen the picture! I quickly ran and grabbed my pre-natal vitamins – which I haven’t been taking.

I could probably make wig with all the hair I lose on a daily basis in the shower, in my hair brush…as I am driving down the road – seriously I looked down and I was covered in hair I had lost.

It’s so depressing. Does it come back again once my hormones settle? Or should I request a catalog from Paula Young fashion wigs. Meh!!!

Catching Up

If you had not already heard we welcomed Rebekah into the world on October 4th. It was the easiest labor ever and she is so perfect…I am so in love!

So where have I  been for the past month? Here is a catch up in pictures!

First off – this is how big I got  - the morning before I was went into the hospital to be induced. It’s ok I will say it – DANG!
From there we headed off to the hospital – of course we were late. At 3:47 pm Bekah made her appearance and our lives officially changed.
First, I thought well she is smaller than expected weighing just 7 pounds 13 ounces. Then I realized she was perfect – all my worries were gone – she was here and I cried.

Bekah spent the next day meeting her family.
Daddy

Sister

Grammy

And Gram.
Leaving the hospital in her perfect pink outfit.
As soon as we got home Bekah met her fuzzy brothers.
Then before you knew weeks had flown by. JAGdad came into town to baptize Bekah.
Her God Parents are Nicole and JAG’s bother, Aaron.
We couldn’t miss our yearly tradition – the pumpkin patch.

We ended another Cheerleading season .

Then it was Halloween.

All in all things are going well – she is a keeper.

Now you are caught up and now I can start fresh. Thank you for all of your prayers and thoughts.
